Snowboarding Holidays for the Environmentally Aware Snowboarder

Dozens avid snowboarders will shortly be trying to find their salopettes and scooting away hunting for the largest snow conditions. And undoubtedly the result from your carbon footprint will be roughly as far down the list of holiday to dos as a xmas tree after the Christmas holidays. Merely last Christmas, a late snowfall made the the newspaper headlines and tourists were terrified about the flakes of snow melting nearly as soon as they landed.

Ski holiday business Chalet 1802, based at the foot of Monte Bianco in Chamonix Haute Savoie in the French Alps, is one of the first independent businesses to go carbon negative and afford skiers an environmentally friendly alternative while organising their skiing holidays. Chalet 1802 owner BERYX stated: Last season was quite a shock with the hottest winter in fifty yrs in the French Alps. Skiing resorts such as Grand Massif, Les Deux Alpes and Grand Massif suffered.It was mild and the snowfall didnt settle so much of the early winter skiing season in the Alps was uneven. We determined to go carbon negative to assist in the preservation the skiing resort.

BERYX said: We’re not seeking to prescribe to punters but we think its important to provide them the option without augmenting the cost of the ski holiday. When the client book with us and vacations in our skiing chalet they can further off-set their carbon footprint and we take in the additional prices. Of course we still have a sauna and a hot tub - customers want luxuriousness but not at the expense of the environs, so we viewed means of decreasing the results of someone traveling over here for a snowboarding holiday.”

Chalet 1802 have moreover partnered with charity Climate Care, which deals with climate change by providing carbon dioxide reductions for people and businesses.
