Put Your Travel Stories Online!

The globe is shrinking thanks to the internet and aeroplanes - and this is echoed in the plethora of blogs penned by backpacker-types around the globe reporting from the land they are currently residing in.

From tales regarding tattoos in Siem Riap to Falun Gong followers in Vietnam, there seems to be no issue that isn’t written about by these intrepid travellers.

Such websites- often referred to as “travelblogs” - are popular with other backpacker-types and individuals who’ve already been to the country they are writing from. Also, such blogs provide an insight for the individuals thinking of journeying in the near future, so they serve a purpose as giving them a preview of what they can anticipate if they do decide to travel.

Nowadays it’s common to chance upon such blogs, and so it’s sometimes not sufficient to only offer some commentary on the country you’re presently in. Now there’s a need for travelblogs that pinpoint niches within the country they reside. For instance, a blog about beach photos in Thailand, or a travelblog that details the wedding ceremonies in Laos.

Most pen these travelblogs for fun, and maybe a bit of attention, but there are writers who make a living from blogging. Be it money from adverts on their blog, or maybe for writing for other sites and being paid to do it as they are travelling. If you’re residing in a country that has a very low cost of living, this can pay your way - though you should have a backup reserve of cash and not completely rely on earning from your blog.

To sum up, it’s good to keep a journal of what you’re doing while you’re travelling - as something to relate back to, and at the same time giving other people a unique view at a corner of the world they may know nothing about.
